“Do you think it was destiny that brought us together?”
He squinted and, after a thoughtful moment, shook his head. “No. I’m pretty sure it was Cinder.
So once again my decision to read this book is because of my need to see this story through to its end. My love for the characters is still strong and I have almost a pull to them. Also there is also the need to see Levana get her comeuppance.
Cress picks up where Scarlet left off and the crew now know of Cinder’s reasoning behind her actions.
*Game of Thrones fix after that epic season finaleWe begin on a satellite where Sybil has been keeping a Lunar “secret weapon”. The weapon in question is none other than a 16 year old girl called (you guessed it) Cress. Cress has contacted the rampion and made a plan. However, the plan was foiled and this resulted in the abduction of Scarlet. The Pilot of the ship Sybil travelled on is Jacin Clay and he has joined Cider cause but Cinder has lost yet another member of the crew as Sybil has sent Thorne and Cress freefalling to Earth in one of the satellites pods.
Now that the crew has been separated Cinder fears the worst. It is at this point where Cinder (*sigh*Finally) decides it is time to meet up with Doctor Erland.
Thorne and Cress have survived the fall and have crash landed in the desert. To add insult to injury Thorne hit his head in the fall and as a result has gone blind. Now him and Cress need to figure a way out of the desert and back to civilisation.
Eventually traffickers end up kidnapping Cress and Thorne is on her tail along with an escort droid he won for Iko. Thorne eventually catches up with her as she was being taken (unknowingly) to Doctor Erland which then results in the crew being reunited except for Scarlet.
Now that the gang is (almost) back together the group have made a plan to kidnap Kai from the Royal wedding. Doctor Erland manages to supply eye drops to Thorne but then puts himself in isolation as he now discovers he has the plague.
After stopping the wedding Cinder plans to dethrone Levana but before she can leave the group are stopped by Sybil who ends up playing mind games with Cinder this then leads to Sybil’s untimely death. The crew then takes off in the rampion.
Scarlet is then discovered in a menagerie upon Lunar where she meets Princess Winter who lets her know that she is on Cinders side.
This book kept me on the edge of my set more that its predecessors. There were parts in this where I felt Meyer convey raw emotions of the characters which I don’t think there are many authors that can do this. I was really drawn in by the developing relationship between Cress and Thorne. I really felt for Wolf once Scarlet was abducted. In my opinion I don’t think he would be able to be his true self until he is reunited with her.
I really like Cress as a character. She is Smart, she is capable and she is a romantic. She is very different from Cinder the tomboy mechanic and feisty “I don’t take any crap” Scarlet. Cress is also very innocent and this isn’t really hard to forget as Meyer brings something in to make you remember she has sent a lot of time isolated above earth.
Thorne is (there is no other words for him) utterly fantastic. I love how he and Cinder bounce off each other and act like an old married couple. Although I do find it sad that he doesn’t believe that he is the hero of his own story.
I am still in the mind set that they should make this into a TV series.
What do you think will happen next? Will Scarlet be reunited with her Alpha? Will Cinder prevail?
Guess I will find out in Winter.
