Empire of Storms: Book Review

Book Title: Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass #5)
Author: Sarah J Maas
Genre: Fantasy
Target Audience: YA

Why I chose this?

I chose this as it’s book 5 of a 7 book series. I’m at the point where I really want to know how it ends but also do I want to finish this, this soon knowing I will have to wait until October for the conclusion? img_3829

Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5)The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don’t.

With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.

In this breathtaking fifth instalment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, Aelin will have to choose what—and who—to sacrifice if she’s to keep the world of Erilea from breaking apart.

So it took me a while to read this because I’ll be honest I didn’t want this series to end. I do have the next few books in the series but I’m really struggling to bring myself to read them even though I have been looking forward to it.

What did I think about this book? Well Sarah Maas did it again and I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout it. I love how every party during the first part of the book had connections to the other parties and how they ended up being brought together was very well done.

Although I had intentionally ready spoilers for the ending (avoiding them seems to be very hard to do with this particular author) it was still something I didn’t expect. I knew what would happen to Aelin but the emotions felt by everyone else when they discovered what happened was incredibly well written.
