Legendary – Book Review

Book title: Legendary
Author: Stephanie Garber
Genre: Fantasy
Target Audience: Young Adult

The air tasted like wonder. Like candied butterfly wings caught in sugared spiderwebs, and drunken peaches coated in luck.

Why I chose this?

Well, I enjoyed Caraval and I want to know what happens next. I just hope it doesn’t disappoint like the last sequels.

Legendary (Caraval, #2)

A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister Scarlett from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister’s. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.

Welcome, welcome to Caraval…the games have only just begun.

What I thought

Like seriously this has blown me away.

This picks up exactly where Caraval left off only this time the main character is Tella. Tella is a lot more feisty than Scarlett and I think more interesting (yes, I know I compared myself to Scarlet but I also know people think I’m uninteresting) yet does have the same level of excitement.

As I said in Caraval Tella is the complete polar opposite to Scarlett, in looks, attitude, energy and has no problem finding herself in a bit of trouble.

I much preferred Dante in this book apart from when he accidentally paired Tella with Jacks. Not that I didn’t like Dante in Caraval but I much preferred him in Legendary, he seemed more playful.

We still get to see glimpses of Scarlett’s and Julians new formed relationship even if it is still a bit rocky. Julian has lied so much over his life it’s like he doesn’t know how to stop but I’ve still got him pinned as a sweetheart as not many men would do what he did for Scarlett.

I need to know what happened to Paradise The Lost – I know I’ll probably get it eventually but

There are still some unanswered questions when it comes to Paradise the Lost and I can understand why Scarlett has been cold towards her. Not that Scarlett is wrong in her feelings but there must be something around why Paradise did what she did.

On the Subject of Scarlett, WHY ARE YOU WRITING TO THE COUNT. YOUR LAME EXCUSE IS JUST THAT. Honestly, if you’re just stringing Julian on them we’re going to fall out young lady.

I honestly didn’t think I was going to enjoy this as much as I did and would highly recommend it and with this 325 DAYS TO GO UNTIL FINALE
