Why I chose this?
What it’s about
They’re waiting for you.
Those four words should have been a warning. They should have filled Violet with dread. But she was so focused on Rafe’s disappearance, she forgot.
The resistance was supposed to be fighting for a better world. A group of freedom fighters formed during the Monarch War, pushing back against laws that would see everyone enslaved. For a while there, they gave hope.
But with power comes corruption. The Society has been quietly amassing the strength and backing to become a real threat, and not everyone wants to use that power for good.
In a world torn apart by the death of monarchs, new leaders rise. Violet dives headfirst into the viper’s nest with one singular goal: rescue the stolen prince who possesses half her heart.
With the unwavering support of Jordan at her side, Violet knows she can face whatever the resistance throws at them. Even if she was the intended target all along.
Keep your friends close.
Keep your enemies closer.
Never forget the betrayals of the past.
The end of an era is here.
No first impressions as I started reading this before I had my post ready. It suddenly appeared on my Kindle on the release day as I had pre-ordered it as I was desperate to know what had happened to Rafe.
What I Thought
As per Jaymin Eves other books, we pick up exactly where we left off with Violet and Jordan are on their way to rescue big bad Prince Rafe. I say that but Rafe has grown on me.
I felt that this was a faster pace than the other two but I wasn’t expecting the bad guy to be who he was but it made loads of sense what it was explained.
What didn’t surprise me was Violet’s lineage with her surname being Spencer. I was waiting for that to come. Violet is still her kick-arse, I can take care of myself type of person. The way she is I felt she was very much like Katniss and didn’t need a man. However, this is a romance so she has to end up in a relationship I suppose.
Jordan surprised me a little, I didn’t expect him to change that much but I guess being in that situation will change you (I can’t comment on the situation they found themselves in as I have never been in one like that). I do find myself lucky to have a friend like Mattie, every girl needs a friend like her.
I have enjoyed this series and now I need to work my way through the last Gods trilogy (the name of the series is currently lost on me) by Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone. I hopefully will soon be able to finish off the Supernatural Prison series with Elemental Compass. We’ll just have to see how I get on.
