““I’m a Titan,” he said shortly, “and I will not let death take you from me. Trust me, Maisey. You’re going nowhere.”
Why I chose this?
I’m on Jaymin Eve’s Facebook fan page and when I heard that her and Leia Stone had collaborated again then this was a must.
What it’s about
Maisy Parker isn’t asking for a lot in life. Just good friends, good fun, and finally reaching one hundred thousand followers on Instagram.
She’s well on her way to all of that, until one drunken dare ends up with a cut hand, blood sacrifices, and a thousand-year-old prison opening to reveal a giant of a man.
Finding herself with a Titan of a problem, she does the only thing that makes sense in that situation: selfie. Because he’s beyond hot, and that has got to be worth twenty thousand followers.
Only it turns out, this is no joke.
Cronus is really a Titan, and he’s set out to destroy the leader of the Greek pantheon.
When Maisy makes a colossal mistake, unleashing an untold evil on the world, Cronus is the only one that can help her.
Maisy is starting to see that she should have been less interested in Instagram and more interested in the impending end of the world.
An end she quite possibly caused—not that she’s admitting to anything just yet.
I’m really not keen on the cover. 1. I don’t do pink and this is a lot of pink for me and 2. She looks like she is coming out of a Stargate which my husband is obsessed with and has been trying for years to get me interested to no avail.
What I Thought
I spent about two hours on the day after it’s release going to Greece, Romania, New Zealand and once again these ladies didn’t disappoint. I get immersed in these worlds to a point where I think I’m going to have to time myself to see how long I have escaped reality.
Maisy doesn’t seem like my sort of person. She comes across as self centred and immature. Then I remember she’s celebrating her 21st birthday and I wasn’t exactly a saint myself.
One thing I didn’t do was awaken a #HotTitan from a 1000 prison sentence buy cutting my hand although knowing how accident prone I am I’m surprised I haven’t (Once again I am typing this with a broken finger and is my third break of this year).
My kids have been on a Pixar binge this month and when I first heard the name Cronus I didn’t go to the Almighty Titan, my stupid brain went to The Incredibles, whereas other people might go to WWE (I think). Cronus and Maisy couldn’t be more opposite however the level of sarcasm used between them is a match made in Olympus (Get it 😉).
I love that for a change this is a story based on Greek Mythology which doesn’t truly centre around the Greek Gods themselves although they are present.
Little thing that did go a little bit too far for my liking was the amount of hashtags used. I get that Maisy is the self proclaimed #HashtagQueen but was the amount really that necessary especially when she wasn’t even using social media half the time she was implying these hashtags?
Now where can I get myself a Cronus?
