Why I chose this?

Once again this isn’t my usual type of book that I would go for but I was taken in by the synopsis and you can probably see why. This book is one of Rachel’s Random Resources.

What it’s about

rocksandflowers_newThe wedding bells for Lorna and Tristan Blake toll doom right as the honeymoon begins with an unexpected turn in Tristan’s health. While World War II winds down, Lorna receives a letter from the War Department informing her that the brother she thought killed in action is still alive. She is overjoyed, but his return will dredge up a devastating secret about their parents’ tragic death –a secret that could destroy her new marriage and threaten her husband’s physical and mental well-being. What unfolds is balancing act of keeping the faith and shattering the pieces of the life she’s worked so hard to put back together.

What I Thought

This is the first book I have read by this author and it certainly wont be the last. Although this is book two in the series this could be read as a stand alone as the gaps are filled in along the way.

The first and second chapter really brought it home for me as I know what it’s like to have a loved one have a heart attack and the way it was dealt with was true to life. I am assuming that the way she dealt with the alcoholism in the same way.

Lorna is how I was when tiptoeing around trying to make any situation less stressful while also navigating her way through her brothers news and the way Tristan wants to keep certain things a secret.

It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions but not one to be missed.
