I received a copy of Seven Years Gone: Undefinable in exchange for an honest review.
Undefinable is the second book in the Seven Years Gone series. Ginger has sought refuge with Rane’s family from the Society but how long for?
I’ll start with the blurb once again:
The Choices we make define us, but they have consequences. Ginger must come to grips with the ramifications of her actions, even as she comes into her own.
While war looms on the horizon, Ginger learns that freedom, family and love are worth fighting for, regardless of the costs.
*spoilers below the cut
We pick with Ginger in a hospital bed who is still recovering from her journey to Harrison and the shocking news she received from Rane and as a 16 year old she try’s pancakes for the first time (I still can’t see any child not trying pancakes until this point but I’m British we have a day dedicated to pancakes).
After a short while Ginger, Rane & Myra had back to the island that Rane and Myra where brought up on where their parents and little brother (Seth) still live. One they get there Rane’s Parents Adam and Alice have a party which becomes a little overwhelming for Ginger when Johah (Rane’s other younger brother) turns up with his dog.
A few days after being on the island Ginger needs a job to do so she goes with Rane and Myra o the clinic and reads to the old people. Johnah turns up one day thinking he can get his cast removed and because his siblins work there he gets priority. As Rane refused he blurted out about how Rane was keeping the fate of Gingers paents a secret. Ginger being understanably upset decides to run from the clinic back to the home where she and Rane ave been living, packs up her things and leaves the island. Can’t help out/read to old people
Ginger ends up being at the only place she knows outside of the town The Harrison rock. Rane, Doctor Anders and Old Joan (the neighbour and Doctor Anders sister) find her but before they can bring Ginger back to town they are knocked out and Ginger, Rane and Joan wake up in a holding cell with no sign of doctor Anders.
They manage to escape thanks to Ginger and find there way to Commander McNeil’s office which is where Doctor Anders is being kept/ While she’s been in the office Doctor Anders has found out that over the last few decades Commander McNeil has been kidnapping boys from Harrison and selling the to the Society. Gingers father was one of them and he was Doctor Anders and Joan’s brother.
As they are escaping the building they’re are kept in Myra has disovered were they are and her and Adam have planned on them hiding out in a friends basement until they can escape Harrison.
I’m not sure I can do this justice so you’ll probably be better reading this yourselfs 😉.
Liz Iavorschi-Braun has done it again. I couldn’t put this book down and I thought it was even better than Undesirable. There were more characters and went more in-depth. The story line was fast paced and kept me on my seat. I love the relationship between Ginger and Rane’s family. It was quite heartwarming to know that there are people who actually care about Ginger as Ginger and not for who she has been made out to be by the citizens. I also feel that she conveyed the characters emotions very well whereas other authors have struggled.
It truly was a wonderful read and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I give this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐
